Several powerful statements. Even though I’m not a fan of BET, I’m glad the stage could be used for this moment of positivity and call to action.
I was saddened to hear of certain other black individuals negating Jesse Williams because he is a light-skinned man and it also saddens me that black people only know how to rally to calls for action when it comes from a ‘stand-out’ individual, like they can’t see injustice with their own eyes.
Good share.
Viacom sensored and pulled this audio video… but you can watch full acceptance speech on BET website! ~~~ http://www.bet.com/video/betawards/2016/exclusives/backstage-chris-spencer-interviews-jesse-williams.html
Sorry…this is the correct url ~~~ http://www.bet.com/video/betawards/2016/acceptance-speeches/jesse-williams-receives-humanitarian-award.html
