Some local leaders are on high alert and believe something similar to the horrors that happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the Unite the Right Rally in 2017 could occur this coming Memorial Day weekend.

Over this forthcoming holiday weekend, thousands of White supremacist extremists are expected to March in the city of Dayton, Ohio, for a Klu Klux Klan rally, and they are expected to be confronted by anti-racism protesters like Antifa and The New Black Panther Party For Self-Defense.

According to thegrio:

“Courthouse Square will be a powder keg on the 25th,” Rabbi Ari Ballaban, director of Dayton’s Jewish Community Relations Council, warned in a statement. “Not only will the KKK be present, but there will likely be thousands of angry counter-protestors there, many bused in from around the region.”

MAN WRONGLY CONVICTED WHEN $13 MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT

By: Leon Kwasi Kuntuo-Asare

An African-American man, who went to prison for six years was awarded $13 million dollars in a settlement , which was agreed upon by the San Francisco board of supervisors .

According to NPR, Jamal Trulove, who is also an actor, was reportedly set up and served prison time for a 2007 murder he did not commit. His 2015 retrial proved his innocence, and he was acquitted for the crime.

In 2007, Trulove sued the SFPD, after he was arrested and sent to prison for the murder of his friend Seu Kuka.

A jury would later determine that San Francisco police officers Maureen D’Amico and Michael Johnson lied and falsified evidence in the case, and even coerced a witness to lie and claim that Trulove was the shooter.

If the case was not overturned, Trulove could of spent the rest of his life behind bar.

By: Leon kwasi Kuntuo-Asare

In an act that seemed reminiscent to its apartheid past, guards on a beach in Cape Town, South Africa , ordered its Black residents to leave, which caused protests to erupt in Clifton 4th Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town.

According to the BBC private guards, hired by local residents ordered all Black people to leave the area.

CapeTown mayor, Dan Plato, would later say in a statement “We will not allow any private organizations to limit access to our public spaces,” and the guards “had no authority to ask anyone to leave Clifton beach”.

According to the Sun, CapeTown Deputy Police Minister, Bongani Mkongi, claimed the police would “go hard on the security company”.

According to many South African activists, these illegal apartheid era-racism is not uncommon.

According to The Grio, Chumane Maxwele, a local activist involved in the protest, claimed often security guards are instructed not to allow Black people onto the beaches.
