No Reparations No Vote!!!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈβœŠπŸΏ

By: Leon Kwasi Kuntuo-Asare

“Just get over it, it happened along time ago” are two phrases most commonly used by both conservative Whites and our so-called White liberals allies when Black people speak about the need of reparations and other tangibles to fix many of the socioeconomic problems caused by systematic White supremacy, which are destroying what’s left of a semi -functional Black America community.

Ironically, those same words are never spoken when the victim of an historic crime is non-Black. Japanese-Americans forced into internment camps during World War 2 received reparations, White Union slave owners who supported the Union and had to get rid of their slaves received reparations, European Jews after World War 2 received reparations, and Native Americans, some of whom (The Five Civilized Tribes)fought for the confederacy against the Union received reparations, yet their former slaves did not and still have not received reparations.

Why do I bring this up? Simply put, the check is due. Too long have Black people simply voted for the candidate that we perceive to be the lesser of two racists, only to find out later with elected officials like the Clintons or even Obama, they were not less racist, neglectful or harmful to the Black community, they were just better at pretending to be our allies.

Every subgroup of Americans vote for politicians who claim to support policies that positively affect their community. Latinos tend to support politicians who support immigration from Latin-America, Jewish people tend to support politicians who support Israel and other Jewish causes, White women tend to support politicians with White-feminists agendas. Black people are the only people who overwhelmingly vote for politicians who never promise to support any policies that specifically helps the Black community, in fact we tend to vote for people who go out their way to hurt us.

American politics is about “quid pro quo”, a favor granted for something, in a capitalistic society nothing is free and neither should be our vote. We as Black people vote overwhelmingly Democratic and are the base of the DNC voting bloc, yet receive little to none of the benefits. Even affirmative action mostly helps White women and other non-Black minorities that include White LGBTQ people and White Hispanics, who often practice just as much racism against Black people as Anglo-heterosexual Americans.

It’s time Black people unite and demand benefits, including reparations specifically for us, and if the Democrats refuse, then we should refuse to give them our vote.

THE U.N: GIVE THEM REPARATIONS!

image

BY: LEON KWASI KUNTUO-ASARE

A United Nations panel of human rights activists asked the United States government to give reparations to the African-American community, who were the descendants of black slaves in America.

The reparations would be intended to repair some of the damage done to the African-American community, through various forms of oppression, which includes :

1. Slavery.
2. Black codes.
3. Jim crow.
4. Sundown Towns.
5. Lynchings .
6. Domestic white terrorism (KKK).
7. Mass incarceration and police brutality , which disproportionately affect the African-American community, at a much higher rate than the rest of the population.
8. The 13th amendment. (Which permitted prison inmates to be used as slave labor.
9. Miseducation by a broken school system.

Mireille Fanon Mendes-France, the chairwoman of the UN Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent committee, compared the police killings of unarmed black men today in the United States to racist lynchings that occurred in the South, during the height of segregation.

Mendes-France did not believe that individual checks should be given to the descendants of American slavery, but rather she recommended money be spent for the “full implementation of special programs based on education, socioeconomic, and environmental rights.”

There is a precedence for the United States giving reparations to American citizens, the first case is when the United States government gave reparations to Japanese Americans, for their harsh treatment during World War 2 and in 2015 the Obama administration earmarked $12 million dollars in reparations to be given to holocaust survivors.

JAMAICA AND OTHER CARRIBBEAN NATIONS CALL FOR REPARATIONS FROM THEIR FROM THEIR FORMER IMPERIALIST ENSLAVERS! ( ARTICLE )

image

BY: LEON KWASI KUNTUO-ASARE

Today, Jamaicans are unified in their call for reparations for slavery, the same reparations that were denied to their ancestors but were given to the over forty-six thousand white slave owners, who owned, exploited, raped and brutalized their ancestors.

But Jamaica is not the only Caribbean nation to demand reparations from their former Imperialist enslavers.
Earlier this year in July, 14 Caribbean nations filed lawsuits against their from exploiters of Great Britain, France and the Netherlands, at the international court of justice in the Hague.

.

The Prime minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron is set to visit Jamaica, to talk about trade relations and the building of a prison, which will be used to house Jamaicans convicted of crimes, while in the United Kingdom.

Cameron claims he has no plans to discuss reparations for slavery, which is disgusting and hypocritical considering the fact his own family owned slaves on Jamaica, therefore not only did his family receive all the economic benefits that came with slavery, but they also received reparations as slave owners when Great Britain ended slavery in Jamaica.
