Chicago born “conscious” hip hop artist and urban intellectual Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, better known by his on stage persona of Lupe Fiasco, is now becoming an activist, recently he co-founded a non-profit organization with his partner Di-Ann Esinor in Brownsville, Brooklyn to help creative and innovative inner-city youth get involved in entrepreneurship and assist them in forming their own startups.
The mission statement of the nonprofit is: βa neighborhood-specific fund to support entrepreneurs and start-ups from under-served areas,β and to βprovide access, network, workshops, mentoring and of course funding.β
The nonprofit will be based out of the Dream Big Foundationβs new entrepreneurship center and cafe starting in January 2016.
