Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback of the San francisco 49ers, in the home opener did something most professional athletes are too afraid to do these days and that’s stand up to systematic white supremacy, with as much bravado as they do to their opponents on the playing field.
Regardless if you agree with Kaepernick’s method of protest, by not standing and saluting during the national anthem, I don’t think any logical person, with knowledge of race relations in this country can deny that we have a huge issue when it comes to racism, so big that two years ago, the United Nations’ Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination committee informed the United States that they needed to resolve their major issues with systematic racism, police brutality and economic disparities, which disproportionately affect the African-American community.
Yet, more fans are outraged by a man with black blood not standing for the national anthem than they are for unarmed black men being shoot and killed on tv by police, so outraged that some fans have decided to start burning Kaepernick’s Jersey to display their anger.
As a black man in America, I can only speak for myself and not the whole African-American community, but I salute you Kaepernick, for stand up against racism when most black athletes want to sit down, so that “White Daddy” does not take away their sports sponsorships.
Maybe if we all ,every race and color turn our backs while the words “land of the free” is being sung but turn again towards the flag while “home of the brave” as the song is being finished to recognize all those who have given their life for this country every race and color.
President Kennedy once asked the question Who of you would choose to be black in America? That was over 50 years ago. We still have a lot of work to do!!!
Good post, he did what he had to do but now chi chi man dem are going to jump on the bandwagon and takeover the movement. Often chi chi’S take over black movements and make it about themselves, like with the female football player, who kneeled I reckon she’s gay. Americans need to stop praising celeb culture to fight your cause and take a bottom up, not top down approach.
Good written piece all the same.

Perhaps the second-rate quarterback should look at himself first, before analyzing the actions of others. He seems to forget that 90% of all black men murdered are killed by other black men.
And here’s some food for thought – sent it to him if you can…. https://pacificparatrooper.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/flags1.jpg

I disagree 100%, number one white people are killed 84% of the time by white people.
That being said if a white person is harmed, especially by a black person, that black person is going to jail, especially if that white person like some many blacks seen killed on tv, wa killed while unarmed.
No one on Fox news is going to say what about white on white crime or what about the hells angels.

I suggest you do the same, not fox(faux) news or some white nationalist blog.
Have a nice pay. Good to share info, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle of two extremes.

Very true – we DO need to look and honestly see all sides to any situation. We need to realize we will only solve problems by standing together rather than sitting on the bench or rioting.
